Ghar.money helps you understand and improve your home loan: we gather your details once, in a conversation in our app, and use them to find loan options from our lending partners. This policy explains what we collect, why, who sees it, how long we keep it and how you stay in control of it. It is written for the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (the DPDP Act): Ghar.money is the Data Fiduciary and you are the Data Principal.
1. What we collect
- Who you are: your name, email address, mobile number, date of birth and PAN.
- Your finances: your employment and income, your credit score as you tell it to us, and the loans you already have.
- Your property: the homes and plots you add, with their address, size, value and any loan on them.
- Your conversations: what you type or say in the chat with our assistant, and the answers you choose. A spoken answer reaches us as its words only, never as a recording (section 4).
- Your devices: the name, type and app version of each device you sign in on, and when it was last used, so you can see and sign out of them. We use a random id per installation, never a hardware identifier.
- What a partner sends us: if a loan agent (DSA) you work with shared your details with us, we hold what they sent and show you which details came from them.
We do not collect your contacts, photos or location. The app uses the microphone only while you are speaking an answer, and only if you allow it. Our website does not use advertising or tracking cookies.
2. Why we use it
We use your data only for the purposes you agree to when you give consent in the app:
- To evaluate you for, and offer you, home loans and related financial products and services.
- To share your details with our lending partners, affiliates, service providers and regulated entities for that purpose.
- To contact you about loan options, by email, SMS, WhatsApp or phone, now and in the future.
We also use your email or mobile number to sign you in and to send you notices about your account, and we keep records the law requires. We do not sell your data.
3. Our AI assistant
The chat in our app is answered by AI models, which we reach through a routing service outside India that passes each request only to model providers who do not store it or train on it (zero data retention). If that route cannot answer, the request may go to another provider outside India on the same terms. Your full PAN is never sent to a model; the assistant only ever sees it masked. The assistant can make mistakes, so please check what it records on your profile, where you can correct anything.
4. Speaking your answers
In the chat you can tap the microphone and say your answer instead of typing it. Your phone's own speech service (Google's, on most Android phones) turns what you say into text, under that service's own privacy terms. You see the words before anything is sent, and you can change them.
- We receive only the words, never the recording. Our servers refuse any answer that carries audio, and we do not store audio anywhere.
- With the words we keep how sure the phone was of them, how long you spoke and the language setting, so we can see how well spoken answers are understood. They are kept and deleted like the rest of the chat (section 6).
- The microphone is never offered for your PAN, your sign-in code or your consent.
- You can always type instead, and you can turn the microphone off for Ghar.money in your phone's settings.
5. Who we share it with
- Lending partners (banks and housing finance companies), and the loan agent you work with, when you ask for or agree to an offer.
- Service providers who run parts of the service for us and may use your data only on our instructions: our database, hosting and email providers, the service that routes requests to AI models and the model providers behind it, and Google or Apple if you choose to sign in with them.
- Authorities, when the law requires it.
Some of these providers store or process data outside India, in Singapore and the United States. The DPDP Act allows this except to countries the Government of India restricts, and we will stop any transfer that becomes restricted.
6. How long we keep it
- The messages of a finished chat are deleted 180 days after it ends. The answers the chat saved to your profile stay until you change or delete them.
- Your profile, properties and loans stay while you have an account.
- When you delete your account, everything about you is erased 7 days after you ask (you can change your mind until then). See section 8 for the little we keep.
- Records we must keep by law, such as a loan file once a loan is disbursed, are kept for as long as that law requires.
7. Your rights
- See your data: everything we hold is on your profile in the app, and Settings has “Download my data”, which gives you all of it as a file (three times a day).
- Correct it: edit any detail on your profile in the app, or write to us.
- Withdraw consent: in the app under Settings. We stop using your data for the purposes above straight away and sign you out on every device. You can still sign in to see, download or delete your data.
- Delete it: in the app under Settings, or on our account deletion page without the app.
- Nominate someone to use these rights for you if you die or cannot act: write to us.
- Complain: write to our grievance contact below. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
8. Deleting your account
You can delete your account in the app (Settings, then Delete account) or on our account deletion page, where you confirm it is you with a code we send to your email or mobile. Your account is closed at once and signed out everywhere. 7 days later we erase your name, contact details, PAN, profile, chats, documents, and the properties and loans you added. If you sign in during those 7 days you can cancel.
After erasure we keep only:
- A record that you gave consent, when, whether you withdrew it and when you were erased, with your email stored only as a one-way code. The law asks us to be able to show consent was given.
- A one-way code made from your PAN, so that a new account with the same PAN is recognised. Your PAN cannot be read back from it.
- Details a loan agent or lender holds on their own records about a loan you took through them. Your link to them in our app ends.
9. How we protect it
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Each person can reach only their own records, enforced in the database itself. Your PAN is masked everywhere it is shown. The app keeps its sign-in in the phone's secure storage, can be locked with your fingerprint or face, and hides sensitive screens from screenshots. If a breach puts your data at risk, we will tell you and the Data Protection Board as the DPDP Act requires.
10. Children
Ghar.money is for adults. You must be 18 or older to use it, and we do not knowingly collect data about children.
11. Changes to this policy
Each version of this policy is numbered. If a change affects how we use your data, we will tell you in the app and ask for your consent again before we rely on it.
12. Contact and grievances
Write to hello@ghar.money for any question, request or complaint about your data. We acknowledge within 7 days and answer within 30 days.
